Book Week

We're celebrating Book Week and this year's theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’, with a range of fun events, activities, competitions and displays.

Preschool age kids can get involved by coming along to our Book Week Storytime sessions at Kiama and Gerringong libraries, and local primary schools will be bringing classes to the library for a special Book Week excursion.

There will also be competitions and displays at both Kiama and Gerringong libraries for everyone to enjoy.

Draw a colourful design for our new children’s library card inspired by the library or the Kiama area. Be in the running to have your design feaured on our children’s library cards and win one of three book voucher prizes. Competition open to Kiama Library members aged 5-12 years.

Book Week Storytime

Come along to a special Book Week Storytime session at Kiama and Gerringong libraries.

We will be sharing some Book Week stories, singing songs and rhymes, and doing some fun craft activities.

Come along to our free storytime sessions for babies, toddlers and preschoolers at Kiama and Gerringong libraries.

CBCA Book Week

Each year since 1945, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. Duringthistime, schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.

The CBCA Book of the Year Awards winner and Honour Books will be announced on Friday 21 August, and CBCA Book Week commences the following day.

Symphony of Stories

The 2026 Children’s Book Week theme is ‘Symphony of Stories’.

Our talented illustrator is the fabulous Briony Stewart, award-winning author-illustrator of Gymnastica Fantastica and other children’s books. Just wait until you meet all the wild characters she’s created.
