Children's Library Card Design Competition

Draw a colourful design for our new children’s library card inspired by the library or the Kiama area (eg landscapes and natural environments, local plants, animals, people, iconic buildings - anything that reflects the local area).

Be in the running to have your design featured on our children’s library cards and win one of three book voucher prizes. (One winner will be chosen for each of the 5-7 yrs, 8-10 yrs and 11-12 yrs categories.)

Competition open to Kiama Library members aged 5-12 years.

Terms and conditions

• The Children’s Library Card Design Competition is open for children aged 5-12 years. Children must be a member of Kiama Library Services to enter. A parent/guardian must sign for all entrants.
• All entries must be the entrant’s own work - no part of the work can be borrowed or copied.
• One entry per person may be submitted, and all entries must be submitted in hard copy on the Children’s Library Card Design Competition sheet provided, along with the completed entry form.
• Entries can be submitted at Kiama or Gerringong libraries. The competition closes 1pm, Saturday 10 October 2026. Entries must be made before this time to be eligible for this competition.
• Entries must not contain logos or advertising material, or imagery or language that is offensive or obscene; nor can it be seen to promote anti-social behaviours or political bias.
• Entries may be displayed at Kiama or Gerringong libraries after the results are announced.
• The competition will be judged and the winners will be contacted by phone or email on Friday 16 October 2026. The competition judge’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
• One winner will be chosen for each of the 5-7 yrs, 8-10 yrs and 11-12 yrs categories, and each winner will receive a book voucher prize. One or more of the winning designs may also be featured on the new Kiama Library children's membership card, with artist credit (first name and name of design) on the reverse side. Any decisions regarding this will be at the discretion of Kiama Library.
• Prizes can be collected from Kiama Library from Monday 19 October 2026. After 19 November 2026, any uncollected prizes will become the property of Kiama Library Services.
• By entering this competition, you are agreeing that your work may be used and adapted by Kiama Library and Kiama Municipal Council on their library membership cards, and your first name, image and images of the work may be used on their social media and websites, and for other promotional purposes under perpetual, royalty-free licence usage. Wherever Council reproduces images of the artwork or its design, Council will acknowledge the first name of the artist as the author of the artwork, and recognise the Moral Rights of the Artist in accordance with the Australian Copyright Act 1968. This licence to use the artwork for these purposes is not a transfer of copyright, which remains with the artist.
