Making Waves
The Ben Flugelman sculpture 'Making Waves' is located in the Rotary Park at Storm Bay, at the entrance to Blowhole Point, Kiama.
The sculpture was created in 1997 and purchased by Kiama Council in 2015.
'Making Waves' is made of stainless steel and depicts the ebb and flow of the ocean waves. It is 2.5 m high and 2 m wide. The sculpture's surface has a scratched, highly polished finish.
Bert Flugelman (1923-2013) had a long academic and artistic career in the Illawarra and spent many years living on Jamberoo Mountain. He was one of Australia's greatest public sculptors, known for his large-scale works of simplified geometric forms in stainless steel.
