Funny story … books make great umbrellas (they don’t); the tide came in; my dog destroyed it; a parrot pecked it; a kangaroo ate it; it was only a cup of tea; don’t baths make things cleaner?

Don’t worry, accidents happen to the best of us (and to the best of books!). Don't sweat it. And yes, these are all true stories.

But water is the arch nemesis of books, and even if the damage doesn’t look too bad at first, they eventually go mouldy.

So please let us know if your book has suffered an unfortunate incident when you return it so we can keep our collection in good condition for future readers.

In some cases there may be a replacement fee, but please rest assured, your (hopefully!) one-off contribution to the library is valued and is helping to keep an important resource available to the whole community.
